Wedding Toasts are actually a wonderful way to express your thoughts on the two individuals who are tying the knot and about wishing them a happy married life. Wedding toasts are generally given at the wedding reception after the formal wedding ceremony is over.

Traditionally wedding toasts are delivered by the best man and maid of honor. The groom decides who is going to be his best man weeks before the wedding day. Similarly the bride picks her best friend or sister as the maid of honor. Typically the father of the bride also toasts the newly weds. But there are no hard and fast rules regarding who can or can’t give a wedding speech or propose a toast to the couple.

However, the three most important wedding toasts are

Father of the Bride Toasts

Maid of Honor Toasts

Best Man Toasts

Groom Toasts

The other wedding toasts that you often come across are

Father of the Groom Toasts

Mother of the Groom Toasts

Mother of the Bride Toasts

Well, the nature of the wedding toasts or the etiquette which is followed while proposing toasts largely depends on geographical locations, customs and individual family traditions. But irrespective of that wedding speeches are always entertaining (well, most of the times) and add zeal to the wedding reception party.

Sometimes wedding toasts are referred to as wedding speeches but there are a few differences between the two. While wedding toasts are much shorter than wedding speeches. You can simply introduce yourself, thank whoever you’d want to thank and propose the toast. A wedding toast could be a couple of lines from a wonderful poem or a wonderful quotation from a famous writer or just your own words (which you put together couple of nights ago). Typically a toast wouldn’t last more than 30 to 60 seconds.

The wedding speech on the other hand is the longer version where the speaker has the opportunity to tell the audience his feelings about newly weds, their families and the relationship they mutually share in a bit more detail. The speaker can make his or her wedding speech even more absorbing by spicing up the wedding speech with anecdotes, humorous wedding jokes, one-liners and quotations.

This blog is about wedding toasts and wedding speeches. And so is the web site Wedding Toasts Guide. The purpose is simply to help you to make your wedding toasts stand out. And you are welcome to share your thoughts by commenting.
